Surah Al-Fatihah — The Opener

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

Bismillāhir-raḥmānir-raḥīm(i).

In the name of Allāh, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعٰلَمِيْنَۙ

Al-ḥamdu lillāhi rabbil-‘ālamīn(a).

[All] praise is [due] to Allāh, Lord of the worlds -

الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِۙ

Ar-raḥmānir-raḥīm(i).

The Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful,

مٰلِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّيْنِۗ

Māliki yaumid-dīn(i).

Sovereign of the Day of Recompense.

اِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَاِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِيْنُۗ

Iyyāka na‘budu wa iyyāka nasta‘īn(u),

It is You we worship and You we ask for help.

اِهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيْمَۙ

Ihdinaṣ-ṣirāṭal-mustaqīm(a).

Guide us to the straight path -

صِرَاطَ الَّذِيْنَ اَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ ەۙ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوْبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّاۤلِّيْنَ ࣖ

Ṣirāṭal-lażīna an‘amta ‘alaihim, gairil-magḍūbi ‘alaihim wa laḍ-ḍāllīn(a).

The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have earned [Your] anger or of those who are astray.
