Qul ūḥiya ilayya annahustama‘a nafarum minal-jinni fa qālū innā sami‘nā qur'ānan ‘ajabā(n).

Say, [O Muḥammad], "It has been revealed to me that a group of the jinn listened and said, 'Indeed, we have heard an amazing Qur’ān [i.e., recitation].

Ayah 2

Yahdī ilar-rusydi fa'āmannā bih(ī), wa lan nusyrika birabbinā aḥadā(n).

It guides to the right course, and we have believed in it. And we will never associate with our Lord anyone.

Ayah 3

Wa annahū ta‘ālā jaddu rabbinā mattakhaża ṣāḥibataw wa lā waladā(n).

And [it teaches] that exalted is the nobleness of our Lord; He has not taken a wife or a son

Ayah 4

Wa annahū kāna yaqūlu safīhunā ‘alallāhi syaṭaṭā(n).

And that our foolish one [i.e., Iblees] has been saying about Allāh an excessive transgression.

Ayah 5

Wa annā ẓanannā allan taqūlal-insu wal-jinnu ‘alallāhi każibā(n).

And we had thought that mankind and the jinn would never speak about Allāh a lie.

Ayah 6

Wa annahū kāna rijālum minal insi ya‘ūżūna birijālim minal-jinni fa zādūhum rahaqā(n).

And there were men from mankind who sought refuge in men from the jinn, so they [only] increased them in burden [i.e., sin].

Ayah 7

Wa annahum ẓannū kamā ẓanantum allay yab‘aṡallāhu aḥadā(n).

And they had thought, as you thought, that Allāh would never send anyone [as a messenger].

Ayah 8

Wa annā lamasnas-samā'a fa wajadnāhā muli'at ḥarasan syadīdaw wa syuhubā(n).

And we have sought [to reach] the heaven but found it filled with powerful guards and burning flames.

Ayah 9

Wa annā kunnā naq‘udu minhā maqā‘ida lis-sam‘(i), famay yastami‘il-āna yajid lahū syihābar raṣadā(n).

And we used to sit therein in positions for hearing, but whoever listens now will find a burning flame lying in wait for him.

Ayah 10

Wa annā lā nadrī asyarrun urīda biman fil-arḍi am arāda bihim rabbuhum rasyadā(n).

And we do not know [therefore] whether evil is intended for those on earth or whether their Lord intends for them a right course.

Ayah 11

Wa annā minnaṣ-ṣāliḥūna wa minnā dūna żālik(a), kunnā ṭarā'iqa qidadā(n).

And among us are the righteous, and among us are [others] not so; we were [of] divided ways.

Ayah 12

Wa annā ẓanannā allan nu‘jizallāha fil-arḍi wa lan nu‘jizahū harabā(n).

And we have become certain that we will never cause failure to Allāh upon earth, nor can we escape Him by flight.

Ayah 13

Wa annā lammā sami‘nal-hudā āmannā bih(ī), famay yu'mim birabbihī falā yakhāfu bakhsaw wa lā rahaqā(n).

And when we heard the guidance [i.e., the Qur’ān], we believed in it. And whoever believes in his Lord will not fear deprivation or burden.

Ayah 14

Wa annā minnal-muslimūna wa minnal-qāsiṭūn(a), faman aslama fa ulā'ika taḥarrau rasyadā(n).

And among us are Muslims [in submission to Allāh], and among us are the unjust. And whoever has become Muslim - those have sought out the right course.

Ayah 15

Wa ammal-qāsiṭūna fa kānū lijahannama ḥaṭabā(n).

But as for the unjust, they will be, for Hell, firewood.'

Ayah 16

Wa allawistaqāmū ‘alaṭ-ṭarīqati la'asqaināhum mā'an gadaqā(n).

And [Allāh revealed] that if they had remained straight on the way, We would have given them abundant rain [i.e., provision].

Ayah 17

Linaftinahum fīh(i), wa may yu‘riḍ ‘an żikri rabbihī yasluk-hu ‘ażāban ṣa‘adā(n).

So We might test them therein. And whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord He will put into arduous punishment.

Ayah 18

And [He revealed] that the masjids are for Allāh, so do not invoke with Allāh anyone.

Ayah 19

Wa annahū lammā qāma ‘abdullāhi yad‘ūhu kādū yakūnūna ‘alaihi libadā(n).

Say, "Indeed, I do not possess for you [the power of] harm or right direction."

Ayah 22

Qul innī lay yujīranī minallāhi aḥad(un), wa lan ajida min dūnihī multaḥadā(n).

Ayah 23

But [I have for you] only notification from Allāh, and His messages." And whoever disobeys Allāh and His Messenger - then indeed, for him is the fire of Hell; they will abide therein forever.

Ayah 24

Ḥattā iżā ra'au mā yū‘adūna fasaya‘lamūna man aḍ‘afu nāṣiraw wa aqallu ‘adadā(n).

[The disbelievers continue] until, when they see that which they are promised, then they will know who is weaker in helpers and less in number.

Ayah 25
