Surah Al-Humazah — The Slanderer

وَيْلٌ لِّكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُّمَزَةٍۙ

Wailul likulli humazatil-lumazah(tin).

Woe to every scorner and mocker

ۨالَّذِيْ جَمَعَ مَالًا وَّعَدَّدَهٗۙ

Allażī jama‘a mālaw wa ‘addadah(ū).

Who collects wealth and [continuously] counts it.

يَحْسَبُ اَنَّ مَالَهٗٓ اَخْلَدَهٗۚ

Yaḥsabu anna mālahū akhladah(ū).

He thinks that his wealth will make him immortal.

كَلَّا لَيُنْۢبَذَنَّ فِى الْحُطَمَةِۖ

Kallā layumbażanna fil-ḥuṭamah(ti).

No! He will surely be thrown into the Crusher.

وَمَآ اَدْرٰىكَ مَا الْحُطَمَةُ ۗ

Wa mā adrāka mal-ḥuṭamah(tu).

And what can make you know what is the Crusher?

نَارُ اللّٰهِ الْمُوْقَدَةُۙ

Nārullāhil-mūqadah(tu).

It is the fire of Allāh, [eternally] fueled,

الَّتِيْ تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى الْاَفْـِٕدَةِۗ

Allatī taṭṭali‘u ‘alal-af'idah(ti).

Which mounts directed at the hearts.

اِنَّهَا عَلَيْهِمْ مُّؤْصَدَةٌۙ

Innahā ‘alaihim mu'ṣadah(tun).

Indeed, it [i.e., Hellfire] will be closed down upon them

فِيْ عَمَدٍ مُّمَدَّدَةٍ ࣖ

Fī ‘amadim mumaddadah(tin).
